National Nurses Week Gifts

National Nurses Week has been a part of America's fabric since 1953, when it was instituted to honor and recognize the invaluable service that nurses provide to the well being of our nation. Each year from May 6 to May 12, corporations, communities, healthcare organizations, and representatives from our national government do, in words and actions, appropriate measures to give thanks to our front-line heroes.

The Theme for National Nurses Week changes from year to year. This year's theme is "A Voice to Lead - Nursing the World to Health". The current theme was planned well before our current pandemic. A more appropriate theme for 2020, we believe, would be "Saluting American Nurses". According to Wikipedia, a Salute is a gesture or other action used to display respect, and primarily associated with the armed forces. Just like our armed forces, our cadre of American nurses are on the front line of a battle. It is not an armed battle against a physical enemy, but a battle no less lethal, against a hidden enemy that requires dedication and bravery to defeat.

Our American Nurse core has rose to the action to confront and ultimately defeat this unknown enemy, and we all need to do all we can do to salute them for all that they do, and will be called upon to do in the difficult months ahead.

All of may not have the honor of saluting a nurse in person. However, a token thank you gift will surely let them know how much we appreciate their bravery and dedication. Items like food storage containers, cell phone chargers, stress relievers, and water bottles are a few of the many Nurse gifts that can be used on the job, while being our way of saluting them from a distance. Let's all pull together in this difficult time of our national crisis, and do whatever we can in Saluting America's Nurses, and celebrating the incredible job they are all doing.
